Vivienne Binns Retrospective at the MCA Sydney

Toni Warburton, Artist. Blog

Loved everything about this beautiful and comprehensive retrospective of Viv Binns’ art at MCA Sydney. With intellectual rigour, generosity and wit, Viv’s oeuvre encompasses iconoclastic student work, childhood identity trauma drawings, feminist research into domestic crafts, participatory community art, the sociology and geopolitics of place, friendship and the philosophy and techniques of painting. A fascinating video documents Viv’s experimental and inventive research into her means of production, her carefully organised painting studio and image archives .
